The API is free for non-commercial projects. If you are charging for something that uses it, talk to us first — we are happy to approve legitimate commercial integrations, usually without a fee.
These Terms of Use govern access to and use of the RustBanned API, including API v1, API v2, and any subsequent versions operated by RustBanned.net (“RustBanned”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).
RustBanned provides a free API that allows developers to retrieve Steam-related information, including account profiles, ban information, game statistics, and other supported data.
We welcome developers building applications, integrations, bots, and community services using our API.
By accessing or using the API, you acknowledge these Terms. Where legally required, a separate agreement or affirmative acceptance may be necessary.
The RustBanned API is available free of charge for legitimate non-commercial purposes, including:
Permission is subject to compliance with these Terms, applicable third-party requirements, and published technical limits.
Non-commercial use does not require prior written approval.
Prior written authorisation from RustBanned is required before using the API in a monetised application or service.
Commercial use includes, but is not limited to:
Commercial use is not automatically prohibited. We are open to approving legitimate commercial integrations, including without charging a licensing fee.
To request permission, contact [email protected] with:
Authorisation must be explicitly granted in writing. Silence, previous API availability, or technical access does not constitute commercial authorisation.
Any authorisation is specific to the approved application and does not extend to other products without permission.
Authorisation remains subject to applicable third-party rights and licensing restrictions.
Developers using RustBanned in third-party products operate independently from RustBanned unless expressly agreed otherwise.
Developers are solely responsible for their applications, including:
Commercial operators must clearly identify themselves as the provider of their product.
Developers must not represent their application as officially operated, endorsed, sponsored, or guaranteed by RustBanned without written permission.
RustBanned provides information obtained from third-party sources, including Steam.
Although we aim to provide accurate and timely information, API responses may be incomplete, delayed, outdated, incorrect, or temporarily unavailable.
A ban result reflects the information available to the service at the time of retrieval and does not independently establish misconduct by a person.
Developers must not present API results as independently verified findings by RustBanned.
Developers are responsible for deciding how API information is used and should implement appropriate verification and review procedures before taking consequential actions against users.
The API is provided free of charge on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
We do not provide a guaranteed service-level agreement, uptime commitment, response time, or guaranteed accuracy.
API access may be interrupted by maintenance, security incidents, infrastructure outages, third-party service failures, or other operational circumstances.
Developers must implement appropriate timeout handling, caching, error handling, and retry mechanisms.
Approved commercial applications should not advertise guaranteed RustBanned availability unless separately agreed in writing.
Developers must comply with the technical limits documented in the API reference.
The published rate limit is a maximum technical threshold, not a guarantee of permitted or reserved capacity.
The following activities are prohibited:
We may restrict access when reasonably necessary to protect service availability, security, or compliance.
Applications using the RustBanned API must provide appropriate acknowledgement where reasonably practicable.
Suggested attribution:
“Powered by RustBanned.net”
Where an application has a settings, credits, or information page, attribution should include a link to https://rustbanned.net.
Developers may identify RustBanned as their data provider but must not imply an official partnership or endorsement.
Use of RustBanned branding beyond factual attribution requires permission.
RustBanned retains its rights in its original software, documentation, branding, and other materials to the extent protected by applicable law.
Steam data and third-party content remain subject to their respective owners’ rights and licensing conditions.
These Terms do not grant ownership of third-party data or permission to use content in ways prohibited by its original provider.
Commercial authorisation from RustBanned does not replace any permission required from Valve or another rights holder.
Developers must comply with applicable privacy and data protection laws.
Developers collecting or storing personal information through their applications must provide appropriate privacy disclosures and establish any required legal basis or consent.
Developers must not attempt to bypass Steam privacy settings or obtain non-public account information without appropriate authorisation.
Developers are independently responsible for their own processing, retention, and disclosure of data.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, RustBanned provides the API without warranties regarding availability, accuracy, completeness, reliability, or suitability for any particular purpose.
RustBanned is not responsible for a third-party developer’s subscription arrangements, pricing decisions, customer support, representations, or independently operated products.
To the extent permitted by law, RustBanned excludes liability for indirect or consequential loss arising from the use or unavailability of the API.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any right, guarantee, remedy, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted, or modified.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, an approved commercial developer agrees to indemnify RustBanned against reasonable third-party claims, losses, and expenses to the extent caused by that developer’s unlawful conduct, material breach of these Terms, or unauthorised representations about RustBanned.
This obligation does not apply to the extent that a claim or loss was caused by RustBanned’s own unlawful conduct, negligence, or breach of its obligations.
Additional responsibilities may be established in a separate commercial integration agreement.
RustBanned may suspend or restrict API access where reasonably necessary because of:
Where reasonably practicable, we will provide notice and an opportunity to remedy a violation before terminating an approved commercial integration.
Immediate suspension may occur where necessary to prevent significant harm, protect infrastructure, or comply with legal obligations.
We may update these Terms to address changes in our services, security requirements, applicable laws, or third-party obligations.
We will publish the updated Terms and their effective date on our website.
For material changes affecting approved commercial integrations, we will endeavour to provide reasonable advance notice unless earlier implementation is required for security or legal compliance.
Continued use following appropriate notice may constitute acceptance where permitted by applicable law.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia, subject to any mandatory laws applicable to users in other jurisdictions.
We encourage developers to create useful applications and services using the RustBanned API.
If you wish to monetise an integration, please contact us before launching commercial features.
